  Dr. Awni worked as a consultant at Prince Faisal bin Fahed Hospital in Riyadh. During that period, he attended numerous courses in several European and American countries. He also worked as a technical and academic director at the National Center for Mental Health, and as a medical director at Al-Amal Hospital (Al-Qurayyat, Saudi Arabia).
